Pastoral
Staff:
Senior Pastor -
Mike Campbell
Originally from
Bluefield,
Virginia, Michael
Campbell attended
King College
in Bristol, Virginia and then earned his Master of
Divinity degree from
Covenant Theological Seminary in
St. Louis,
Missouri. While at King College, he met Keren, who is originally
from the Caribbean island of
Saint Vincent; they were
married in 1987. After
seminary, they
moved to Saint Vincent where Mike worked for
Ministries in
Action and ”Discipleship Sunshine Mission.” He later became
the pastor of
Pinelands Presbyterian Church in
Miami,
Florida, where he served for seven years before moving to
Jackson. Mike is a gifted teacher and preacher, with
special gifts in cross-cultural ministry, counseling, and
discipleship. He also has a passion for impacting all
people with the truths of the Reformed faith and the life
changing power of the gospel. He and Keren have three
children.
Assistant to the Pastor -
Steve Lanier
A
native of Rome,
Georgia and a graduate of
Darlington High School and
Shorter College,
both in Rome, Steve has been involved in Christian ministry
for virtually his entire life. After college, he remained
in collegiate life by serving as a campus pastor with
Youth
for Christ. It was during this time that he met
Sherry, a native of
Atlanta and a graduate of
Belhaven
College. The two were married in 1977, and moved to
Jackson the following year to continue their ministry
with Youth for Christ in the local schools. Steve later earned a degree in Marriage and
Family Therapy from
Reformed Theological Seminary.
This opened up opportunities to work as a therapist with
teens and their families and to work as a certified Alcohol
and Drug Counselor. Most recently, Steve served as the
Director of Outreach & Missions at
Trinity Presbyterian Church; he now continues that ministry
as Assistant to the Pastor at Redeemer
Church. In addition to his responsibilities at
Redeemer, Steve also serves as an adjunct
faculty member at Belhaven College where he teaches a Youth
Ministry class. Steve and Sherry have one daughter, Mandy, who inherited
her parents' passion for winning over others to Christ by
demonstrating His love for them. She is a graduate of
Belhaven College, where she met her husband, Brad Bailey. Brad
and Mandy live in Perkinston, Mississippi with their infant son were
they are both employed with
Mississippi
Gulf Coast Community College, Mandy as a Residence Supervisor in
a residence hall and Brad as a supervisor in the Student Activities
& Wellness Center.

Office Staff:
Administrative Assistant -
Dina Plunket
Dina
Plunket keeps the church office organized and coordinates volunteer office staff. Although she was
born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Dina considers Jackson to be her
home town. A graduate of
Belhaven College,
Dina also has a Business degree from the
University of
Southern Mississippi. Dina has extensive experience in
ministry, having worked previously for
Pinelake Baptist Church
at the reservoir,
First Baptist Church of Ridgeland, and
Trinity Presbyterian Church.
She also has been involved with many ministries including sports
ministry, tutoring, and various other local outreach programs.
She is currently involved with the YMCA Ministry and is a member of
the Home Missions Committee of Redeemer.

Ministry Staff:
Director
of Children's Ministries -
Phyllis Hurley
As the part-time Director of Children's Ministries, Mrs. Phyllis Hurley has
oversight of all programs for children ages four through twelve,
including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Wednesday Night
Activities. Originally from
Denver, Colorado, Phyllis attended
Tufts University
in Boston,
graduating with a degree in History and a minor in Secondary Education. While living in Boston,
she attended the historic
Park
Street Church, which is where she met her husband, Jim, who was
attending Harvard
University. During their
married life, they have lived in numerous locations including
Philadelphia,
Chattanooga,
Miami,
Tallahassee,
England,
and
Switzerland. Since 1985, the Hurleys have made their home
Clinton,
where for eighteen years Phyllis was the administrator of
Mt. Salus
Christian School, and also earned a Master of Education degree in
School Administration and Supervision from
Mississippi College. Jim is a professor of Marriage and Family Therapy at
Reformed Theological
Seminary. The Hurleys have three grown sons: Jim, a
lawyer in
New Orleans and a member of
Redeemer
PCA of New Orleans; Andrew and his wife Leigh are family
therapists with
Saint Mark's Counseling Center, parents of one daughter, and members of Redeemer Church;
and Tim, who is studying at
Stanford Law
School, is also a member of Redeemer Church.
Music Director -
Loretta Galbreath
Ms. Loretta Galbreath
serves as
part-time Music Director at Redeemer Church. She is a gifted musician who
loves the Lord and has a true heart for the mission of Redeemer
Church. A native of
Jefferson City, Missouri, Loretta is an Assistant Professor of Music &
Assistant Director of Choral Activities at
Jackson State University. She has
music degrees from
Lincoln University in Jefferson
City and the
University of Missouri-Columbia. She is currently pursuing
a doctoral degree in Music Education & Choral Conducting.
Loretta has prior teaching experience at Lincoln University, and was
the Minister of Music & Organist at Second Baptist Church in
Jefferson City. She plays a number of instruments including
the organ, piano, clarinet, baritone, tuba, and trombone. She
also has experience in the formation and direction of mass choirs,
and multi-ethnic choirs. She has been named to "Who's Who
Among America's Teachers," has directed a choir performance at
Carnegie Hall, and has received awards for her leadership and
accomplishments.
Nursery Coordinator -
Laura Smith
Mrs.
Laura Smith serves part-time as the Nursery Coordinator at Redeemer
Church, working with the Nursery Committee and
the nursery volunteers. Laura is originally from
Altavista,
Virginia, where she lived until the age of 15 when her family moved
to Titusville, Florida. She graduated from the
University of Central
Florida in
Orlando, majoring in English. She then worked for several
years and in various capacities for the
Annals of Emergency Medicine
in
Dallas, Texas. Upon moving back to Florida, Laura worked
as a freelance writer and a conference planner. In 1995 she
moved to
Columbia, South Carolina, where she met and married Randy Smith.
A year later, they moved to
Nyack, New York, just outside
New York City, where
she and Randy both worked for
Nyack College. Laura served initially as
an adjunct instructor, followed by a two year stint as the Director
of Program for Conditionally Admitted Students, and then an
additional two year period as the Director of First-Year Studies.
In 2001, the Smiths moved to Jackson where Randy is an Associate
Professor of English and Director of the Creative Writing Program at
Belhaven College.
Laura is the mother of three children, including Ben Ratliff, a
student at Belhaven College. She also just recently enrolled in the
Master of Social Work program at
Jackson State
University.

Interns:
Intern -
Shaun Furniss
Shaun is originally from
Grandville, Michigan, just outside
Grand
Rapids and not far from the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan.
After two years of studying at
Grand Valley State
University where he double-majored in Business and Psychology,
Shaun transferred to
Kuyper College
where he double-majored in Pre-seminary and Biblical Studies,
triple-minored in Greek, Communication, and Education. During
his college years, he worked as a Youth Director at
Ottawa Reformed Church of West Olive and
Fair Haven Ministries
in Hudsonville,
Michigan. Shaun also served as a chaplain at
Spectrum
Health Hospital and as a nurse technician at the same facility.
Upon graduating in 2005, he moved to Jackson in order to continue
his education at
Reformed Theological Seminary. In 2007, Shaun graduated
with a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Counseling. He is now
continuing his studies at RTS in the Master of Divinity program,
with an anticipated completion date of May, 2009. Shaun's
goal, upon graduating, is to work in pastoral care within a church
setting, focusing on counseling and discipleship. As an intern
at Redeemer, Shaun is the pastoral care intern with much of his
focus being placed on the mercy ministries and outreach of Redeemer.
Intern -
Roy Hubbard
Roy
grew up in
New
Orleans, Louisiana and attended
Louisiana State
University where he earned a degree in Elementary Education.
He briefly taught junior high math before enrolling at
Reformed
Theological Seminary, where he is in his second year.
Roy's intern responsibilities at Redeemer include working with the
youth and the basketball ministry. On March 10 of this past
year, Roy married Emily Chapman. Much of Emily's youth was
spent in
Starkville, however she graduated from high school here in
Jackson and was a member of
Trinity
and eventually Redeemer Church. After graduating from
Mississippi State
University with a degree in English, Emily is now finishing up
her master's degree in Sociology at MSU. For her thesis, she
is conducting a study on Race and Religion at Redeemer Church.
Intern -
Trey Owens
Trey
has been a familiar face at Redeemer for many years. As an
undergraduate at
Belhaven College, he attended Redeemer from its inception, and
Trinity
prior to that. Upon graduating from Belhaven in 2005, he began
his studies at
Reformed
Theological Seminary. At Redeemer, Trey's primary
responsibility is with the youth ministry. Trey is originally from the town
of Zachary,
Louisiana. In October, 2007, Trey married Hilary Smith.
